Overview
Our range of single-phase and 3 phase meter boxes are constructed from glass reinforced polymer (GRP) which ensures durability which ensures a strong, non-corrosion and weather-resistant meter box.
Wall-mounted / surface or recessed
A wall-mounted / surface external electric box is easy to install on the property wall or boundary wall. A wall-mounted external electric box is secured in position onto the wall. A recessed external electric boxes are an ideal solution when space is limited. Recessed or built in external electric boxes are located within a wall cavity and appear smaller. See below the recessed external electric boxes available:
Used externally
All meter boxes are constructed from Glass Reinforced Polymer(GRP) which ensures all meter boxes are weather resistant and water tight inside. This construction also allows for non - corrosion or rust when used externally.

How to fit and measure a meter box door
This video provides a brief guide on how to measure a meter door (electricity or gas), is to open the door and measure from the inside. Using a measuring tape, follow these simple steps:
- Measure the height (top to bottom) of the door.
- Measure the width of the door (left to right).
- Measure the width of hinges
- Measure the distance of hinges from the top and from the bottom.
- Look at the type of hinges on the door (if available) and make a note if they are located on the right or left-hand side (while looking at the door from the outside).
How to fit a GRP Architrave Overbox (EB0025)
This video provides a brief guide on how to fit your Tricel's GRP Architrave Overbox (EBP0025) onto your existing meter box. This overbox is manufactured from flame retardant SMC material and comes with a tapered back. It is suitable for Tricel, Medium Permali and Wavin meter boxes.
How to fit a replacement meter box door
This video is a brief guide on how to fit a replacement meter box door to an existing meter box. The box shown in the video is a recessed UK electrical meter box.
- The first step is to remove the existing damaged meter box door by depressing the brass spring pin.
- Secondly, fit the new Tricel door by holding it upright and placing the steel pin into the pre drilled hole at the bottom of the meter box.
- Position the brass spring pin under the pre-drilled hole at the top of the box, releasing the spring pin allowing it to slot into place.
- Finally, close the door as normal. This door features a slam shut lock (SSL) but is also available as a turn key lock (TKL)
