How to replace a plastic latch

If you need to replace an electric or gas meter box latch, the process is simple and straightforward and the same for both electric and gas meter boxes. If you damage either the latch or lock, both will need to be replaced. The following instructions will help you.

 

Replacing a meter box latch:

  1. Your Plastic latch will have three pieces: a latch, a centre pin (triangle key slot), and a metal washer.
  2. Remove the old lock from the door.
  3. Place the latch (40x21.5mm) section on the inside of the door.
  4. From the outside of the door insert the wavy washer.
  5. Insert the latch post clicking it into place
